RanchCaptain

Livestock records that work without a signal.

RanchCaptain keeps the identity, condition and history of every animal on your outfit — and keeps working at the back of the ranch, where the bars run out. What you write in the pens syncs when you get back to the house.

Open the app Works in a browser, nothing to install. iPhone and Android apps are on the way for crews that want the full offline record with sync across the team.

What it does today

Everything listed here is built and running. We would rather show you a short list that is true than a long one that is not.

Every animal, in full

Identity, sex, class, breed, sire and dam, owner, acquisition and how it left. Multiple identifiers per animal — ear tag, EID, brand, registration.

Health and treatment history

Treatments, vaccinations and procedures recorded against the animal, with the medication and the date, kept as history rather than overwritten.

Weights over time

Birth, weaning, yearling and current weights on one record, so a number means something next to the ones before it.

Pastures, drawn

Name your pastures, draw their boundaries on a map, and see where animals are. Stated acres and mapped acres are both kept — we do not overwrite what you know.

Bring your records with you

Import a spreadsheet from whatever you use now. Columns map themselves, classes and breeds it has not seen get created, and nothing is refused over a word it could not read.

Your crew, with limits

Invite the people who work with you and decide what each of them can see and change. Authorization is enforced on the server, not just hidden in the app.

Built for where the work happens

Most ranch software assumes a connection. This one assumes you do not have one.

Local first, always

Every screen reads a database on your own device. Nothing spins waiting on a network that is not there.

Writes wait their turn

What you record goes down locally and queues. When a signal comes back it goes up, in order, without you thinking about it.

Two devices agree

You in the pens and somebody at the house end up with the same records, and a conflict is resolved rather than silently losing one side.

One property, more than one kind of work

RanchCaptain is the livestock door. The same property, crew and permissions carry across.
